This is one of my favourite sweets, but usually, I end up making it myself because so few people make it. It is Yummm!!!

Ingredients

  • 400 grams fresh grated coconut
  • 400 grams sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 200 grams soogee/semolina
  • 1/4 cup vanilla
  • rind of 1/2 an orange, very finely chopped
  • Method

Mix the sugar and the coconut in just a little water and stir on a medium flame until it feels stringy.

Mix in the beaten eggs and the soogee.

Keep aside for at least three hours.

Roll into small spheres and bake in a preheated (low setting) oven, on a lightly greased cake tray.

When they are ready, the surface will become dull, and the base slightly brownish.

Be careful, these go from almost done to scorched in the blink of an eye!
